In a shocking incident in North Carolina, a man was reportedly caught on surveillance footage brutally murdering a woman with a hammer in a gas station restroom.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department responded to a distress call from a QuikTrip station in north Charlotte on the night of August 17. Upon arrival, they discovered Glandina Dixon, 47, bleeding profusely from her head. Despite immediate medical attention, Dixon was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to The Blaze, the surveillance footage from the gas station paints a chilling picture. It shows a man, later identified as 53-year-old Sam Roary, following Dixon into the store before returning to his black truck to retrieve a hammer. The video then reportedly shows Roary trailing Dixon into the women's restroom where he allegedly struck her on the head with the hammer in a savage attack that lasted a mere 40 seconds.

The police have confirmed that Roary and Dixon were acquainted prior to the incident. Roary has been apprehended and charged with first-degree murder, with a cash bond set at $1 million. This is not Roary's first encounter with the law. WCNC-TV reported that he was previously convicted of second-degree murder in 1989 when he was just 18 years old, and was released from prison in 1995.

In the wake of this tragic event, Dixon's family and friends gathered for a vigil to honor her memory. James Love, a family friend, expressed his anguish and confusion to WCNC, stating, "We dont understand why, we want to know why. Im angry. God says you have to forgive; but right now, I cant forgive because she didnt deserve it." The news report from WCNC also included scenes from the gas station and Roary's booking photo, serving as a grim reminder of the brutal crime.
