JD Vance, a prominent conservative figure, has taken a critical stance against the policy proposals recently unveiled by Vice President Kamala Harris.
The Vice President's plans, which echo many of the current Biden-Harris administration's policies, have been met with skepticism and concern. Vance meticulously dissected each policy, focusing particularly on the issues of border security and economic growth, two areas of significant interest to voters.
According to The Post Millennial, Vance took to social media to share his thoughts on Harris' policy proposals. He stated, "It has been 50 days since Kamala Harris became the presumptive nominee of the Democratic Party. In the dead of night yesterday, she finally released her campaign policy page. Here's what I think of it." He expressed his concerns about the potential implications of Harris' plans, particularly on the middle class and small businesses.
Vance challenged Harris' promise to "cut taxes for middle class families," arguing that her proposal would actually lead to increased taxes for this demographic. He pointed out the potential burden of IRS audits on working families, stating, "Getting audited is a horrendous experience, even if youve done nothing wrong. Harris cast the tie-breaking vote to hire 87,000 IRS agents to audit more people. As recently as last summer, 63% of new audits fell taxpayers earning less than $200,000."
He also criticized the increased reporting requirements for businesses under the Biden administration, which now require businesses to fill out a 1099k form for transactions exceeding $600 on a third-party payment platform. Vance argued, "It's hard to pretend that taxing working men and women isnt their focus when you think about the reporting requirement Biden-Harris signed into law to require businesses to fill out a 1099K form on transactions over $600 made using third-party payment platforms. The reporting threshold before their bill was $20,000."
Vance further critiqued the economic policies of the Biden-Harris administration, describing them as a "massive wealth transfer from working people to the Green New Deals constituencies." He pointed out that Harris was the tie-breaking vote on the Inflation Reduction Act, which he characterized as a massive climate change spending bill that failed to reduce inflation.
On the issue of border security, Vance questioned Harris' commitment to "secure our borders and fix our broken immigration system." He highlighted her inconsistent stance on the issue, noting that despite being tasked with handling border and migration issues in March 2021, her office quickly backtracked, claiming it wasn't her responsibility. Now, she asserts her readiness to tackle the issue.
Vance also criticized Harris' support for the "bipartisan" border bill, which he claims would allow "up to 1.8 million illegals to enter before the border could be closed" and "gives billions of taxpayer dollars to the same NGOs that are driving the invasion and expands the executive parole powers used by Biden instead of limiting them." He added that the bill's author, Sen. Chris Murphy, previously stated that under his bill, the border never closes.
Vance also took issue with Harris' housing proposal, which promises $25,000 subsidies for first-time homebuyers. He argued that this would likely inflate average home prices by the same amount, rendering the plan ineffective. He also suggested that the assistance might not be limited to citizens, potentially subsidizing home purchases for those in the country illegally.
In terms of small business support, Harris pledged to "take on the everyday obstacles and red tape that can make it harder to grow a small business." However, Vance countered this claim, citing the "SEC has promulgated at least 47 rulemakings, the majority of which have not been mandated by Congress, and we've seen Treasury enact burdensome compliance regulations, with some even aimed at small businesses, like the Administration's preferred implementation of the Corporate Transparency Act."
Vance also questioned Harris' commitment to supporting service members, veterans, and their families. He pointed out that Harris has yet to speak to any of the Gold Star Family members affected by the Abbey Gate bombing in Afghanistan. He stated, Kamala Harris never once bothered to pick up the phone and call those families. Kamala Harris never once supported an investigation into the decisions that led to Abbey Gate. If Kamala Harris cared about veterans, she would have demanded accountability. She didn't. He also criticized Harris for the administrations handling of the Israel-Hamas war and the Ukraine-Russia conflict.
Vance's critique of Harris' policy proposals underscores the ongoing debate and division within American politics. As the nation grapples with these complex issues, the need for thoughtful, effective policy-making remains paramount.
