The family of Rachel Morin, a 37-year-old mother of five who was tragically murdered, has expressed their deep disappointment with President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris for their perceived lack of compassion and acknowledgment during this difficult time.
Morin was allegedly killed by Victor Antonio Martinez Hernandez, an illegal immigrant from El Salvador with ties to the notorious MS-13 gang.
According to Breitbart, the family's attorney, Randolph Rice, stated, "The Morin family is deeply disappointed by the lack of acknowledgment and compassion from President Biden and his administration." He further added, "This lack of concern serves as a reminder of the apparent disregard by the Biden administration for the victims of preventable crimes committed by illegal immigrants. Like many others."
In contrast to the current administration's response, Morin's family received support from the Republican party. Her brother was invited to speak at the Republican National Convention (RNC) in July by former President Donald Trump. Additionally, Morin's mother recently joined Trump at a campaign press conference at the United States-Mexico border.
On August 5, 2023, Morin embarked on a walk along the Ma & Pa Heritage Trail in Harford County, Maryland. When she failed to return home, her boyfriend, Richard Tobin, reported her missing. The following day, her body was found on the side of the trail.
The Tulsa Police Department arrested Martinez Hernandez in connection with Morin's murder on June 15, 2024. Prosecutors allege that Martinez Hernandez brutally raped, bludgeoned, and strangled Morin to death in what they describe as the most horrific case in Harford County history. He was indicted in July on first and second-degree murder charges, as well as rape, sexual offenses, and kidnapping charges.
Martinez Hernandez, who is currently in police custody, is set to stand trial in October. He is among the more than two million known illegal immigrants who have successfully crossed the border during Biden and Harris's tenure.
In 2023, Border Patrol agents apprehended Martinez Hernandez on three separate occasions - twice in January in New Mexico and Texas, and once in February in New Mexico. Each time, he was returned to Mexico. After his last return to Mexico, Martinez Hernandez crossed the border again, making his way to California where he allegedly assaulted a woman and her child. He later traveled to Maryland, where he stands accused of raping and murdering Morin.
Before crossing the border, Martinez Hernandez was accused of murdering a woman in his native El Salvador. The woman's body was discovered days later, marking a chilling precursor to the tragedy that would later unfold in Maryland.
