Foreign Hackers Target TrumpWhy This Election Scandal Wont Be The Last!

In a recent revelation, Morgan Wright, a former State Department Anti-Terror Adviser, has warned that the alleged foreign hacking of the Trump campaign is a reality that "we're gonna live with now."

This statement was made during his appearance on "Fox and Friends Weekend" on Sunday.

According to the Daily Caller, the Trump campaign, led by the 2024 Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, has accused "foreign sources hostile to the United States" of pilfering information and subsequently sharing it with Politico. This illicit activity reportedly began in late July. Wright, in his conversation with Fox News co-host Will Cain, asserted that the hack was "definitely political" and was "designed to damage" the GOP nominee. He substantiated his claim by highlighting that the stolen information from the Trump campaign was directly sent to Politico.

Wright further differentiated this incident from the usual activities of transnational criminal groups like ransomware groups. He stated, "When you look at transnational criminal groups like ransomware groups, for them it's about the money. This is not something they get involved in."

The Trump campaign has directed attention towards a Microsoft intelligence report that was released on Friday. This report alleges that hackers with ties to the Iranian armed forces had "sent a spear-phishing email to a high-ranking official of a presidential campaign" back in June. Wright underscored the close timing of the Microsoft report's release and the news of the attack.

He explained, "The director of national intelligence, the DNI, and Microsoft put out reporting just a few days ago talking about how a senior official in a presidential campaign targeted through a spear-phishing attack." Wright emphasized the significance of this, stating, "And that's important because it means a particular person was identified, somebody who they think might have had a relationship or be amenable to opening a document, pasting maybe a PDF or a link. And that's how the initial compromise occurred."

Wright concluded with a sobering prediction, "This is just something we're gonna live with now. For this election, and for all future elections."

Earlier this year, it was reported that the U.S. had obtained intelligence suggesting that the Iranian government was conspiring to assassinate Trump. In response to this threat, the Secret Service heightened their security measures for the former President. This action proved to be warranted when Trump was grazed in the ear by a bullet on July 13 during an assassination attempt at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
