The 'DAMNING' Reason Mary Trump Says Fact-Checking Her Uncle Is Futile!

Former President Donald Trump's recent press conference at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida has sparked a flurry of reactions, with his niece, Mary Trump, issuing a cautionary note about the upcoming 2024 election.

She likened the event to a replay of 2016, expressing her concerns in a post on her social media platform, X, and her Substack.

According to Newsweek, the former President announced that he would be debating his opponent, Kamala Harris, on Fox News on September 4, ABC on September 10, and NBC on September 25. While Trump claimed that these dates were mostly confirmed on his part, he noted that the Harris campaign still needed to "agree to the terms." The Harris team had already accepted the September 10 debate, a fact that ABC News corroborated on Thursday, confirming both candidates' participation.

The press conference also served as a platform for Trump to express his views on a range of issues, including abortion, immigration, foreign policy, and the economy. He did not hold back in his critique of Harris, labeling her as incompetent and criticizing her border policy and immigration stance under the Biden administration.

Trump's popularity was a recurring theme throughout the conference, with the former president using crowd size as an indicator of his support. This was in response to queries about Harris' increasing popularity in the weeks following President Joe Biden's withdrawal from the race. Trump even went as far as to claim that the crowd at his January 6, 2021, speech on the Ellipse was larger than the audience for Martin Luther King Jr.'s iconic "I Have a Dream" speech in 1963.

In a controversial remark, Trump stated that no one was killed during the Capitol riot, despite the fact that several people, including his supporter Ashli Babbitt, lost their lives that day.

Mary Trump, a known critic of her uncle, shared her views on the press conference and its media coverage on X and her Substack. She cited MSNBC host Lawrence O'Donnell's opening monologue, agreeing with his sentiment that the event felt like "2016 all over again." O'Donnell had criticized the live broadcast of Trump's speech on multiple cable news networks, a practice that was prevalent in 2016. He also expressed his dissatisfaction with the delayed fact-checking efforts that followed Trump's speech.

In her Substack, Mary Trump echoed O'Donnell's concerns, highlighting the challenges of live fact-checking due to the "volume and velocity" of Trump's falsehoods. She also expressed her dismay at the extensive free media coverage her uncle received in 2016, while Hillary Clinton's policy speeches were largely ignored.

The press conference coincided with Harris and her vice-presidential pick, Governor Tim Walz, addressing the United Auto Workers in Detroit, Michigan. Mary Trump criticized the lack of media coverage for this event, questioning why it was not reported despite her and her colleagues' close attention to the news. This, she argued, was another example of media failure.

Mary Trump's critique of the media's handling of her uncle's press conference and the 2024 election coverage reflects a broader concern about the role of the media in shaping public perception and discourse.
