In a recent development, Ohio Republican Senator J.
D. Vance has found himself embroiled in a public dispute with Hollywood actress Jennifer Aniston, best known for her role in the popular sitcom "Friends".
The disagreement stems from comments made by Vance during a 2021 interview with former Fox News host Tucker Carlson, which Aniston has publicly criticized.
According to Raw Story, the contentious remarks made by Vance during his conversation with Carlson centered on his belief that American politics is overly influenced by "childless cat ladies" who, in his view, lack a personal investment in the nation's future due to their absence of biological offspring.
"It's just a basic fact," Vance stated. "You look at Kamala Harris, Pete Buttigieg, AOC, the entire future of the Democrats is controlled by people without children. And how does it make any sense that we've turned our country over to people who don't really have a direct stake in it?"
Aniston took umbrage at Vance's critique of childless individuals, responding with a pointed message. "Mr. Vance, I pray that your daughter is fortunate enough to bear children of her own one day.
I hope she will not need to turn to IVF as a second option. Because you are trying to take that away from her, too," she retorted.
Vance, in a subsequent interview with Megyn Kelly, expressed his indignation at Aniston's comments. A Hollywood celebrity saying, Oh, well, J.D. Vance, what if your daughter suffered fertility problems?" Vance recounted.
"Well, first of all, that's disgusting because my daughter is 2 years old and, second of all, if she had fertility problems, as I said in that speech, I would try everything I could to try to help her because I believe families and babies are a good thing.
The Ohio senator further argued that his comments during the Carlson interview were misconstrued, explaining that his motivation stemmed from witnessing the challenges his wife faced in juggling her career and family responsibilities.
Vance's addition to the GOP ticket as former President Donald Trump's running mate has been a source of ongoing controversy.
There are even reports suggesting that Trump may already be second-guessing his decision to select Vance. This latest clash with Aniston only adds to the growing list of contentious issues surrounding the Ohio senator.
