In a surprising turn of events, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, a figure often linked with liberal causes and the Democratic Party, has expressed admiration for former President Donald Trump.
In a recent interview with Bloomberg, Zuckerberg praised Trump's response to an assassination attempt, describing it as one of the most "badass" things he had ever witnessed.
According to Gateway Pundit, Zuckerberg was quoted as saying, "Seeing Donald Trump get up after getting shot in the face and pump his fist in the air with the American flag is one of the most badass things Ive ever seen in my life." The tech mogul, known for his stringent censorship policies against conservative voices on his platforms, seemed to be moved by Trump's resilience. "On some level as an American, its like hard to not get kind of emotional about that spirit and that fight, and I think that thats why a lot of people like the guy," he added.
Zuckerberg, who has been at the helm of Facebook for years, also indicated a shift in the company's political stance. He stated, "The main thing that I hear from people is that they actually want to see less political content on our services because they come to our services to connect with people." He further explained that Meta, Facebook's parent company, is now recommending less political content than before, suggesting a potential decrease in the platform's influence on future elections. "I think youre going to see our services play less of a role in this election than they have in the past," he predicted.
However, Zuckerberg refrained from endorsing any candidate for the 2024 presidential race, leaving room for speculation about his political leanings. While it's likely he will support Joe Biden or his successor, his recent comments have stirred the pot.
On the other hand, Trump has been openly critical of Zuckerberg and his business empire. In March, he suggested that banning TikTok in the U.S. would only serve to benefit Meta, which he referred to as an "enemy of the people." He wrote on Truth Social, "If you get rid of TikTok, Facebook and Zuckerschmuck will double their business. I dont want Facebook, who cheated in the last Election, doing better. They are a true Enemy of the People!" This ongoing tension between the two influential figures adds another layer of complexity to the political landscape.
