A 21-year-old male was apprehended in close proximity to the Fiserv Forum, the venue for the ongoing Republican National Convention, on Monday.
The individual was reportedly in possession of a firearm and ammunition. According to The Post Millennial, the arrest was made after the man, who was under surveillance by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and U.S. Capitol Police, was deemed suspicious.
The man was reportedly wearing a mask and was stopped within the security perimeter of the RNC. Law enforcement sources, as reported by Fox News' Bill Melugin, revealed that the man was armed with an AK47 pistol, a full magazine, and a Scream mask, all concealed in a large backpack.
The Milwaukee Police Department confirmed the arrest, which took place around 1 pm on Monday on the 1200 block of N 11th Street. The man had drawn attention due to his suspicious appearance, which included a ski mask and a large tactical backpack. Upon inspection by the Capitol Police, it was discovered that the man was carrying a concealed weapon in his backpack without a concealed carry permit.
