Model and rapper Amber Rose's address at the Republican National Convention (RNC) was hailed as "the most effective" and potentially "the most dangerous" for Democrats in the current election cycle, according to Democratic strategist Van Jones.
Speaking on CNN, Jones highlighted the potential impact of Rose's speech on the Democratic coalition.
As reported by The Hill, Jones, a CNN commentator, lauded Rose's speech, stating, "That is a young woman of color. She is describing the experience that a lot of people have feeling that maybe, if youre around too many liberals, you might get criticized too much or you might not be able to speak your mind, and she spoke to it really well. He further emphasized Rose's popularity, noting that she is "way more famous than any of us up here."
During her RNC address, Rose recounted her journey to supporting former President Trump, a decision she initially feared due to perceived judgments. She admitted to initially believing Trump was racist, a notion she later dismissed after further research and discussions with her father. "I realized Donald Trump and his supporters dont care if youre Black, white, gay or straight, its all love, Rose declared. And thats when it hit me. These are my people. This is where I belong.
Rose's decision to support Trump was not without fear. She expressed concerns about judgment, misunderstanding, and potential attacks from the left. However, she overcame these fears and publicly declared her support for Trump. So, I let go of my fear of judgment, of being misunderstood, of getting attacked by the left, and I put the red hat on too, she added.
The CNN panel, including Republican strategist Scott Jennings, commended Rose's political savvy. Jennings praised Rose's ability to communicate effectively and directly, suggesting that she might have a promising political future. This person is super talented, ok? Like, this person knows how to speak plainly and directly, knows how to use the camera, the cadence of it, he said. They got something there.
Jones echoed Jennings' sentiments, praising Rose's ability to connect with the American people through the camera, a skill he deemed more effective than addressing a large crowd. In those big arenas, its hard not to want to fill up the room, Jones said. But youre not talking to the 30,000 people there, youre talking to the 30 million people at home, and she was, I mean, she was the most effective.
The convention also saw Trump officially named as the GOP nominee for President, with Ohio Sen. JD Vance announced as his running mate.
