Marla Maples, the second wife of former President Donald Trump, has hinted at a potential return to the public sphere, this time in a political capacity to support her ex-husband's possible second presidential campaign.
As reported by Fox News, Maples revealed her intentions during an in-depth interview with the London Evening Standard, a UK-based newspaper. She expressed her readiness to take on a more active role, stating, "Ive been in the caregiving mode. Now my mother and father have each passed, and my daughters happily married. Its time I can really be more on point with what I may be called to do."
The possibility of Maples serving as Trump's running mate was broached, to which she responded that the decision ultimately lies with her former spouse. However, the North Georgia native did not dismiss the idea, stating, "Im open. Im open to whatever way I can serve."
Maples, now 60, shared that the entire Trump family is exploring ways to support their patriarch. The Trump campaign, however, has not commented on Maples' statements.
Despite her potential political involvement, Maples confessed her distaste for politics, citing its tendency to divide people. Yet, she also expressed her fearlessness in facing any negative repercussions that may arise from voicing her opinions.
She highlighted the role her daughter, Tiffany Trump, played in her father's previous presidential campaigns. Maples emphasized that her primary responsibility during those times was to provide Tiffany with "strength."
Tiffany's husband, Michael Boulos, has also contributed to the campaign efforts by engaging with numerous Arab American leaders in Michigan, a crucial state for the 2024 elections. Boulos is the son of Lebanese billionaire Massad Boulos.
Maples also addressed the civil allegations against Trump by advice columnist E. Jean Carroll, which have resulted in significant financial damages for the former president. She defended Trump, stating, "I do know my daughters father well enough to know that hes never had to push himself on another person. Hes always had women throw themselves on him instead."
Regarding Trump's other legal battles in New York, Maples suggested that the nation has more pressing concerns than any hush money paid to Stormy Daniels. She criticized the media's focus on these issues, arguing, "They love these little sexy stories. We have a country that is failing. Our cities are not protected Thats more important than having these lawsuits that are not affecting any of us today."
Maples and Trump's relationship has experienced its share of turbulence. Their affair, which occurred during Trump's marriage to Ivana Trump, made headlines in 1990. Ivana, who received a $14 million divorce settlement from Trump, blamed Maples for their marriage's dissolution. Ivana Trump passed away in 2022.
Maples and Trump were married from 1993 to 1999, and their daughter Tiffany was born the same year they tied the knot.
