In a recent development, former President Donald Trump has vehemently denied any association with Project 2025, a comprehensive conservative agenda drafted by the Heritage Foundation.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump dismissed the attempts to connect him to the project as "pure disinformation."
According to The Hill, Trump stated, I know nothing about Project 2025. I have not seen it, have no idea who is in charge of it, and, unlike our very well received Republican Platform, had nothing to do with it. Project 2025 is a 900-page document outlining conservative objectives should a Republican candidate secure the presidency in the forthcoming election.
Despite Trump's efforts to distance himself from the project, it is noteworthy that contributors to Project 2025 include former Trump administration officials such as Ben Carson and Ken Cuccinelli. The project is also spearheaded by Paul Dans, another official from the Trump administration.
In his post, Trump further criticized the Democrats, stating, The Radical Left Democrats are having a field day, however, trying to hook me into whatever policies are stated or said. It is pure disinformation on their part. By now, after all of these years, everyone knows where I stand on EVERYTHING! DJT[.]
In a similar vein, Trump expressed his ignorance about the project in a previous post on Truth Social, dismissing it as a "presidential transition plan." He stated, I have no idea who is behind it. I disagree with some of the things theyre saying and some of the things theyre saying are absolutely ridiculous and abysmal. Anything they do, I wish them luck, but I have nothing to do with them.
In response to Trump's comments, a spokesperson for Project 2025 reiterated that the project does not represent any candidates or campaigns on social platforms.
Meanwhile, Democrats have voiced their apprehensions about Project 2025. Some Democratic House lawmakers initiated a campaign against the plan in early June. Rep. Jared Huffman (D-Calif.), a leader of the campaign, warned, Americans dont understand just how far down the road to a dystopic, right-wing theocracy we are right now. And that, for me at least, is the priority: making sure people know it, and making sure were ready to confront it.
