In a recent interview, Representative Jim Clyburn (D-S.C.) expressed his unwavering support for Vice President Kamala Harris, stating that he would back her for the presidency if President Biden were not in the picture.

"I'm a Biden-Harris person, so I'm not getting away from that. I'm for Biden-Harris. I'm going to be for Biden if Harris ain't there and I'm going to be for Harris if Biden ain't there," Clyburn told USA Today.

According to The Hill, Clyburn, a prominent figure in the Democratic party, is known for his instrumental role in Biden's primary victory in South Carolina, which significantly boosted his journey to the 2020 presidential nomination. Despite the growing clamor for Harris to replace Biden as the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, Clyburn urged his party to "stay the course" and "chill out."

Clyburn acknowledged that President Biden's performance during a recent debate was less than stellar. However, he likened the situation to a baseball game, suggesting that the president deserved "two more swings." This comment came in the wake of a wave of concern among Democrats following Biden's shaky debate performance, which led to calls for him to step aside and allow a more capable candidate to challenge former President Trump in the upcoming election.

Vice President Harris, in a post-debate interview with CNN, defended Biden's performance. She conceded that the president had a "slow start," but emphasized that "it was a strong finish." Harris attempted to draw a contrast between Biden's lackluster stage presence and Trump's stance on "issues that matter to the American people."

When questioned if there was a more suitable Democrat to convey the party's message, Clyburn responded with a resounding "no," asserting that there is "no better Democrat." Clyburn's endorsement of Biden during the 2020 Democratic primary was a pivotal moment for Biden's campaign, setting him on the path to the White House. His continued support for the Biden-Harris ticket underscores his commitment to the current administration, despite the challenges it faces.
