GRAPHIC Footage Emerges: Cyclists MOWED Down By SUV In Texas (Warning)

In a shocking incident that unfolded on Tuesday, footage surfaced on social media platforms that seemed to depict a white SUV striking two cyclists from behind on a Texas highway, as reported by various sources.

The video, which has since sparked outrage, shows the vehicle making contact with the cyclists, causing one to fall near the roadside and the other onto the highway's central lane. The SUV then appears to drive over the cyclist and his bicycle lying in the middle of the road.

According to the Daily Caller, a Twitter user named @auroramyst, who claimed to have witnessed the incident, stated in a subsequently deleted post, "Driver took off and was chased down by others, and was arrested. Happened in [the Dallas, Fort Worth International] Airport area." The user, Aurora, also mentioned that the cyclists were "expected to be ok, thank God."

A photograph that later emerged on Twitter showed police officers escorting a handcuffed man, presumably the driver of the SUV. Aurora had initially given permission for media outlets to disseminate the video "to promote awareness of bicyclists where possible" before the post was removed.

This incident is not an isolated one, as local outlet WFAA News reported similar collisions involving vehicles and cyclists or motorcyclists in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex in April and May, some of which tragically resulted in fatalities.

Despite the alarming nature of the incident, the Dallas Police Department did not provide a comment to the Daily Caller in time for the publication. The lack of immediate response raises questions about the measures in place to ensure the safety of cyclists and the enforcement of traffic laws in the region.
