In a recent interaction with CNN, Nathan Wade, the erstwhile prosecutor for former President Donald Trump, was abruptly interrupted by his media consultant.
This interruption occurred when CNN's Kaitlan Collins posed a question about the commencement of Wade's romantic involvement with Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis.
Collins queried, "Just to clarify, when did the romantic relationship between the two of you start?" Wade's response was cut short as he turned to his consultant, stating, "Im getting signaled here." The cameras continued to roll as Wade's microphone was disconnected and a hushed conversation ensued.
As reported by The Washington Free Beacon, Wade returned to the interview after the brief interruption. Collins, ensuring everything was in order, repeated her question. Wade responded, "I believe that the public has through, through the testimony and other interviews, the public has a clear snapshot that this is clearly just a distraction. It is not a relevant issue in this case, and I think that we should be focusing on more of the facts and the indictment in this case."
Despite Collins's persistent questioning, Wade remained evasive about his relationship with Willis. Both Wade and Willis have asserted that their romantic involvement began only after Willis appointed Wade as the special prosecutor in Fulton Countys election racketeering case against former President Trump. However, a former acquaintance of Willis testified in February that the affair had commenced prior to the case.
In March, a superior court judge ruled that while Willis could remain on the case, Wade would have to step down due to the "appearance of impropriety." The Georgia Court of Appeals, last month, acceded to Trumps request to review this ruling, potentially leading to Willis's removal from the case. This ongoing saga underscores the importance of maintaining professional boundaries and the potential consequences of personal relationships in high-stakes legal proceedings.
