On Friday, three bodies were discovered.
Three men were kidnapped, gagged, and murdered before their bodies were strategically dumped. Now, one man is being charged with aggravated murder.
Fox News reports, Police in nearby Akron said a passerby spotted two bodies in a wooded area near Interstate 77 at about 8:30 AM on Friday. Officers in Copley got a call about 20 minutes later reporting the body of a man in a ditch alongside a road about two miles away from where the other two bodies were found.
Copley Township released a statement regarding Elias Gudino. The 58-year-old is charged with one count of attempted aggravated murder and one count of aggravated murder. However, the investigation continues, and additional charges are pending.
Right now, all three murders are thought to be connected. Akron and Copleys detectives are working on the investigation to assemble the puzzle. They believe the men were kidnapped outside the county and then murdered and dumped.
However, there are still many pieces of the puzzle missing. According to Fox News, Investigators were trying to determine the reason for the kidnapping and are also trying to identify all of the victims positively. They said they believe there is no danger to the public.
Gudino was placed behind bars Friday after the bodies were discovered. We know that his home was searched, but the police have yet to release any more information. We do not understand why they believe Gudino was behind the incidents or what they found in his home if anything.
Background checks reveal a few details about Elias Gudino. He is from Mexico but came to the United States in the 1980s and is now an American citizen. Previously, he owned a grocery store in Akron.
He was also previously in charge of a drug ring. According to the Beacon Journal, Investigators said they had information that Gudino had been trafficking drugs since the 1990s and now had an operation based in southern Mexico, but reached across the U.S. in Ohio, Colorado, Oklahoma, and other states, court records said. After that, he was in prison for 150 months and was released in 2017. Well keep you updated as more details are revealed.
