GOP's Baffling Support For FBI Revealed In Explosive Carlson Interview

In a recent interview with Tristan Leavitt, president of Empower Oversight, Tucker Carlson, a prominent conservative commentator, expressed his vehement disapproval of the House Republicans' decision to continue funding the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

According to the Daily Caller, Carlson's criticism came in response to Leavitt's revelation of the FBI's alleged political bias in the suspension and revocation of security clearances.

Leavitt shared that he had testified in 2023 before the House Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government, alongside FBI whistleblowers Steve Friend, Marcus Allen, and Garret OBoyle. The subject of their testimony was the FBI's handling of security clearances in relation to the events of January 6, 2021. Leavitt revealed that FBI documents contained "extremely intrusive questions" about support for former President Donald Trump and Covid-19 vaccine status.

Carlson, visibly incensed, questioned the logic behind the GOP's decision to "reward" the FBI despite these revelations. He stated, "We now know youve proven with these documents that supporting a Republican for president is enough to get your security clearance revoked. So, the FBI is, by definition, a political secret police organization. And thats antithetical to freedom.

The conservative commentator further criticized the Republicans in Congress for refunding the FBI and allocating hundreds of millions of dollars for a new headquarters, despite the evidence of political bias. He argued, So, at what point do Republicans say, Im sorry, were not going to pay for a secret police organization dedicated to destroying us.

In November 2023, seventy House Republicans joined Democrats in voting to fund a new FBI headquarters in Maryland, a state under Democratic control. This decision has sparked controversy and criticism from conservative quarters.

Leavitt expressed his belief that the uncovered documents could serve as a catalyst for Congress to "overhaul the FBI and the personnel that are in it at the moment." He pointed out that "political considerations" were evident in the security clearance determinations.

Carlson concluded the interview with a damning indictment of the FBI's response to the January 6 events, stating, It just becomes clear every day that January 6 was, well, a hoax, on one level. But the response to it was one of the most corrupt things thats ever happened in our lifetimes in this country."

Marcus Allen, one of the whistleblowers, had his security clearance reinstated after Empower Oversight threatened legal action against the FBI. Allen's clearance was initially suspended in 2022 after he questioned FBI Director Christopher Wrays testimony about law enforcement presence at the Jan. 6 riots at the U.S. Capitol. His questioning was interpreted as disloyalty to the country.
