Disneys Latest Star Wars Hits Totally NEW Levels Of 'Wokeness'

In a recent interview with The Wrap, Leslye Headland, the showrunner for the latest Star Wars franchise show on Disney Plus, expressed her delight at the series being dubbed the "gayest Star Wars ever."

Headland, who previously served as an assistant to the now-disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein, responded to rumors that the show was LGBTQ-centric. The series made its debut this past Tuesday.

According to The Post Millennial, the interview took an amusing turn when The Wrap's Drew Taylor asked, "because this is arguably the gayest Star Wars yet by a considerable margin." This comment elicited laughter from Headland and the star of The Acolyte, Amandla Stenberg.

Taylor continued his line of questioning, asking if they were excited or bracing themselves for the show's reception. In response, Headland humorously retorted, "Not the gayest Star Wars!" Taylor, not missing a beat, responded, "It's pretty gay, let's be honest."

The conversation took a more serious turn when Taylor asked Headland how her own sexual orientation influenced The Acolyte. He further probed, "I know you're gay, but are you excited aboutthis is going to be a talking point." To which Headland responded with surprise, "Is it gonna be a talking point?"

The discussion then veered towards the perception of 'nerds' in relation to homosexuality. Stenberg humorously declared, "Because nerds are gay," sparking a debate on whether all nerds are gay or if some are put off by overtly gay content. Taylor suggested that "some nerds are very not gay and are threatened by gay stuff."

Stenberg, however, maintained her stance, stating, "In my world, nerds are gay." This statement was met with laughter from all parties. The conversation then returned to the show, with Taylor asking if the gay element was a fun aspect of the series. Headland responded, "No, but people have told me that it's the gayest Star Wars and frankly I aminto it."

Stenberg added her own perspective, saying, "I think that Star Wars is so gay already." They all agreed that C3P0 is gay and that R2D2 is a lesbian. The Acolyte, a prequel to Star Wars, is a mystery revolving around a Jedi Master investigating crimes.

Disney and Star Wars have previously been embroiled in controversy over their stance on gender ideology. Gina Carano, a former Star Wars star of The Mandalorian, was fired and culturally cancelled for her comments against Disney's pronoun requirements. Carano, who also criticized Covid vaccine requirements and mandates, has since launched a lawsuit against Disney for wrongful termination.

Disney's 'wokeness' has been a point of contention, with criticism coming from figures such as Elon Musk, who commented, "this is getting ridiculous" when a new director was hired to bring a female perspective to the story.

Despite the buzz, The Acolyte has yet to win over fans, with a rating of less than 50% on Rotten Tomatoes. Fans have criticized the character and story development, as well as its proximity to canon. Headland previously created Russian Doll on Netflix with Natasha Lyonne.
