In the wake of the jury's guilty verdict, the donation page for former President Donald Trump's campaign experienced a system crash on Thursday.
The malfunction, which displayed a 500 error message indicating "something went wrong," occurred within minutes of the verdict's announcement.
Following the verdict, substantial financial contributions poured into Trump's campaign coffers. Notably, Shaun Maguire, a partner at Sequoia Capital, donated a significant sum of $300,000. "The timing isnt a coincidence," Maguire stated on X. It's worth noting that Sequoia Capital employees have a history of contributing to both the Democratic National Committee and the Republican National Committee, as well as the anti-Trump group, The Lincoln Project, as reported by Open Secrets.
In a statement on X, Trump's campaign team suggested that the verdict was a result of a "rigged show trial" orchestrated by President Joe Biden, whom they referred to as "Crooked Joe." The campaign further claimed that the overwhelming response from Americans led to the crash of the WinRed pages. "So many Americans were moved to donate to President Trumps campaign that the WinRed pages went down," the campaign stated.
The jury found Trump guilty on all 34 counts of falsifying business records as outlined in the indictment issued by Democratic District Attorney Alvin Bragg. Trump's sentencing is scheduled for July 11.
In a separate development, Lee Zeldin, a candidate for New York governor, announced on X that he had secured an $800,000 donation for President Trump's Joint Fundraising Committee following the verdict. "Never experienced a massive ask that easy," Zeldin noted.
