Republican Florida Gov.

Ron Desantis office put out a not safe for work video about some of the pornographic books currently on the shelves of schoolhouses throughout the state. The Governors office called this an Exposing the Book Ban Hoax press conference, and they dove right into the fact that many objectionable books are currently in the libraries at public schools in Florida.

DeSantis took about 5 minutes in the video debunking the myth that Florida has banned books from the classroom.. Instead, the state has taken complaints from parents about certain books that have been on the shelves in public schools seriously. Florida has fielded those complaints and has taken appropriate action when necessary. For example, some books complained about include Gender Queer, which shows a girl masturbating and performing oral sex on another girl, and Flamer, a book about a gay boy who details some of the sexual experiences that he has.

The Daily Caller reports that the video put out by the Governors office starts by saying: This is porn, and These books violate Florida standards and curriculum. The hoax from the left is that these books were never in Florida schools.

Other books have been the target of complaints from parents across the Sunshine State. For example, Lets Talk About It details sex and teenage relationships and contains images and descriptions explaining masturbation for men and women and instructions on anal sex according to the video that the Governors office put out.

Bryan Griffin, DeSantis press secretary, spoke to the Daily Caller and said:

If these materials are not appropriate to show on the news, are they appropriate for children? and Today, Governor DeSantis disabused the medias false narratives surrounding Floridas educational standards. Florida doesnt ban books, but pornography [is] prohibited in schools, and CRT [Critical Race Theory] will not [be] utilized as educational material.

The presentation also showed a video posted on social media by a teacher in Jacksonville of empty library shelves. The teacher tried to show the consequences of the new book ban laws. However, the teacher lost his job for violating cell phone and social media policies for staff members at the school.

The Daily Caller reports that the Florida Department of Education mandated that K-12 librarians take annual training to identify pornographic materials and materials that promote Critical Race Theory (CRT). Those materials get pulled from library shelves according to Florida law.
