WATCH: JD Vance BLASTS DA And Key Witness In Trump Case

On Monday, Senator JD Vance launched a scathing attack on the New York District Attorney Alvin Bragg's key witness in the Trump falsified business records case, Michael Cohen, a former attorney for Trump.

Vance expressed his belief that Cohen's testimony would undermine the prosecution's case and extended his support to former President Trump.

"Michael Cohen, the prosecution's star witness, is a convicted felon who confessed in his testimony to secretly recording his former employer. He claimed to have done this only once, allegedly, and purportedly to aid Donald Trump," Vance stated to the media.

He questioned the credibility of Cohen's testimony, saying, "Does any rational, sensible individual believe anything that Michael Cohen utters? I don't believe they should. In fact, I anticipate that his testimony will be detrimental to any rational juror, and hopefully, we have a few of those."

Vance also took issue with the gag order imposed on Trump by Judge Juan Merchan. He described it as a disgrace that the former president was prohibited from stating that every individual involved in this prosecution is practically a democratic political operative.

"The judge's daughter is earning millions of dollars by running against Donald Trump and fundraising for his political adversaries. The third-ranking official in the Department of Justice under Biden left to become a local prosecutor to pursue Donald Trump. And then there's Alvin Bragg, a prosecutor funded by Soros who pledged to target Donald Trump and is now doing exactly that," Vance added.

He warned that the proceedings in the courtroom posed a threat to American democracy. "Regardless of your feelings towards Donald Trump or your political affiliation, the events unfolding in that courtroom are a menace to American democracy. We cannot have a country where prosecuting political opponents takes precedence over persuading voters," Vance stated.

He accused President Joe Biden of using the trial as a distraction from domestic inflation and international warfare. "Biden's entire strategy is to divert attention from inflation at home and war abroad with this sham trial. I yearn for a reasonable country where we strive to persuade voters in our politics, not incarcerate our political adversaries. This is a disgrace, and I am here to express my support for my friend," he said.

Vance was present at the Manhattan courthouse on Monday, alongside Senator Tommy Tuberville and Representative Nicole Malliotakis, to demonstrate their support for Trump.

Vance also took to social media to criticize Cohen's testimony. "Cohen cant remember how old his son is or how old he was when he started to work for Trump but Im sure he remembers extremely small details from years ago!" he wrote.

He further mocked Cohen's admission of secretly recording his employer, saying, "Michael Cohen admitting he secretly recorded his employer. Just totally normal conduct, right? The best part is he said he did it only once and only for Trumps benefit. A standup guy!"
