In a recent revelation, it has been reported that President Joe Biden has been withholding crucial intelligence regarding the locations of Hamas leaders and their command tunnels.
This information, if shared with Israel, could potentially expedite the end of the ongoing conflict. The report, which surfaced on Saturday, suggested that the Biden administration would release this information if Israel agreed to halt its current operation in Rafah.
The question that arises is why the Biden administration would withhold such vital intelligence about Palestinian terrorists from Israel, especially when five American citizens are currently held hostage in Gaza and their only hope of rescue lies with Israel. The administration's actions have raised eyebrows and sparked questions about its motives.
The story was first reported by The Washington Post. The paper described the situation as follows: "The Biden administration, working urgently to stave off a full-scale Israeli invasion of Rafah, is offering Israel valuable assistance if it holds back, including sensitive intelligence to help the Israeli military pinpoint the location of Hamas leaders and find the groups hidden tunnels, according to four people familiar with the U.S. offers."
This report suggests that the Biden administration has been shielding Hamas. If intelligence exists that can aid in locating Hamas leaders, it should have been shared with Israel as soon as it was available. The same applies to any information about the terror tunnels.
The withholding of this information from Israel raises several questions. Was the White House attempting to placate Iran by ensuring Hamas' survival? Or was President Biden apprehensive about potential domestic backlash from the far left if he played a role in eliminating Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar?
The decision to offer this intelligence only after Israel called Biden's bluff on Rafah appears to be a political maneuver, with the President's political interests seemingly prioritized over the lives of the hostages, including those still in captivity.
Michael Oren, the former Israeli Ambassador to the United States, expressed his shock and disgust at the situation, questioning whether the administration still considered Israel an ally.
Apart from the scandalous aspect of the situation, there is also an apparent contradiction in Biden's stance. He is offering to provide Israel with information on the location of Hamas leaders while simultaneously demanding that they refrain from attacking their geographic location in Rafah.
This appears to be a futile promise from the White House, a desperate attempt to persuade Israel to call off its final strike against Hamas. At this stage, the Israelis do not require the intelligence as they will likely discover the terror tunnels themselves once they take Rafah. This perceived betrayal by the Biden administration may well lead to Israel disregarding the President's demands.
