In the early hours of Thursday, a Boeing 737-300 aircraft experienced a severe mishap during an attempted takeoff at Blaise Diagne International Airport in Senegal, resulting in grave injuries.

The aircraft, operated by Transair under Air Senegal flight HC301, failed to lift off and "overran the runway" around 1:14 a.m., as stated by Senegal's Ministry of Infrastructure, Land and Air Transport. The flight was originally destined for Bamako, Mali, as reported by the BBC.

The Senegalese military confirmed that of the 78 individuals on board, which included two pilots and four cabin crew members, eleven sustained injuries. Four of these passengers are in a critical condition.

Footage circulating on the internet depicts the aircraft, bearing the serial number 6V-AJE, resting on a grassy embankment, with noticeable damage to its left engine.

Blaise Diagne International Airport, the primary gateway to Dakar, the capital of Senegal, was temporarily closed following the incident. This closure led to delays and the rerouting of scheduled flights.
