In a chilling assault captured on camera, a woman was ambushed from behind, strangled with a belt until she lost consciousness, and subsequently raped.

The man responsible for this horrifying act, Kashaan Parks, was arrested on Saturday, according to police sources. A Bronx detective, who requested anonymity due to not being authorized to speak with the media, commented on the disturbing precision of the attack.

The detective stated, "I definitely think he's done it before. It was too clean. Normally, the first time out they make huge mistakes. This was no mistake. This guy was precise." The incident occurred around 3 a.m. on May 1, with Parks allegedly approaching the victim from behind, looping a belt around her neck, and pulling her to the ground, causing her to lose consciousness.

The detective further speculated, "There's probably more victims out there but what happens is they blackout and don't remember anything. How do you get the belt around the neck perfectly like that?" Parks, 39, faces charges of first-degree rape, assault, strangulation, sex abuse, public lewdness, and harassment.

Parks, donning a white Tyvek suit, kept his head down as he was escorted by two detectives from the Special Victims' Division unit to a car for transport to Bronx criminal court. He refrained from answering any questions posed by reporters about the crime.

Parks has a history of arrests, with two on public record. In October 2018, he was charged with third-degree assault and criminal mischief in the Bronx for allegedly assaulting a 46-year-old woman during a dispute and damaging her property. In 2013, he was charged with theft of services for entering the rear of an MTA bus without paying. Police were unable to confirm if he has any sealed arrests.

Following the assault, the victim was taken to Lincoln Hospital in stable condition. However, at some point, she ceased cooperating with authorities, according to police sources. As of May 5, the city has seen a total of 511 reported rapes, mirroring the same total for the same period last year.
