According to Fox News, teachers union president Randi Weingarten received a lot of media attention for an emotional meltdown on the steps of the Supreme Court this week, according to Fox News.
However, Weingarten is not necessarily getting praise for this action from all circles. Yes, some love what she did at the Supreme Court, but there are differing opinions based on what individuals think about the specific complaints she was lodging at the time.
A Student Debt Crisis Center rally was held at the steps of the Supreme Court as the highest court in the land considered a recent case related to the plan by the Biden Administration to cancel a lot of student debt for students throughout the country. The plan was to cancel $10,000 worth of student loan debt for individuals making $125,000 or less per year or households making $250,000 or less.
Weingarten had an emotional breakdown as she gave a speech about the student debt crisis. She said, And frankly, and this is what really pisses me off, and During the pandemic, we understood that small businesses were hurting, and we helped them, and it didnt go to the Supreme Court to challenge it. Big businesses were hurting, and we helped them, and it didnt go to the Supreme Court to challenge it.
She continued by saying:
All of a sudden, when its about our students, they challenge it, the corporations challenge it, the student loan lenders challenge it,
and
That is that not right, that is not fair, and that is what we are fighting as well when we say cancel student debt. This is about the people, and it is about the peoples future, and it is about all of your futures.
Many Twitter users grasped this and said they were shocked by the overly-emotional display.
Radio host Jesse Kelly tweeted: The lack of self-awareness is what gets me about these people. Who told Communist John Denver that she should be a public speaker?
Entrepreneur Kevin Dalton tweeted: I can only imagine this video cuts off seconds before Randi Weingarten goes full on crazy cat lady, and starts throwing cats at people on the steps of the Supreme Court.
Overall, there was a lot of mockery and criticism of the people who took to the Supreme Courts steps to try to make some political points about the student loan situation. This is something that those who borrowed money in the first place ought to pay back and be responsible for. Many want to try to skirt out that responsibility for themselves now.
