UN Accused of Sacrificing Palestinian Lives to Support Terror-linked UNRWA

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has reportedly urged other UN agencies to reject responsibilities and funding typically assigned to the UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), an organization that has been associated with Palestinian terrorism.

As reported by Breitbart News, numerous donor nations have halted their contributions to UNRWA following the discovery of over a dozen of its employees' involvement in the Hamas terror attack on October 7. Furthermore, UNRWA has been criticized over the years for allegedly indoctrinating Palestinian children to harbor hatred towards Israel and Jews. The existence of the agency itself perpetuates the notion that Palestinian "refugees" several generations later will return to a demolished Israel.

Israel has expressed its belief that UNRWA has no future in a post-Hamas Gaza. It is advocating for other UN agencies, which are not infiltrated by terrorists or saturated with terrorist ideology, to undertake the roles that UNRWA currently performs in Gaza.

However, the UN is reportedly resisting this proposal, as revealed by an investigative report by Colum Lynch at DevEx.com. "Secretary-General Antnio Guterres has urged the heads of the United Nations principal relief agencies, including the World Food Programme and UNICEF, to rebuff appeals by Israel and the United States to undertake work currently carried out by the world bodys beleaguered Palestinian refugee agency," Lynch reported.

This move by Guterres places him in opposition to the Biden administration, which is striving to convince the UN's primary relief organizations to assume some of UNRWA's functions. UNRWA, a longstanding Palestinian aid agency, has been accused by Israel of complicity in Hamas' crimes, reflecting concerns about its financial future.

Hillel Neuer, the executive director of UN Watch, a watchdog organization that scrutinizes the UN and its institutions, raised this issue on Thursday. He stated that Israel has claimed it can provide "unlimited" aid to Gaza. However, it alleges that UNRWA is failing to distribute it appropriately to civilians in Gaza, and that much of it is being commandeered by Hamas terrorists or armed gangs.
