The Federal Bureau of Investigation conducted a search at the residence of Winnie Greco, a key aide to New York City Mayor Eric Adams, situated in the Bronx.

Greco holds the position of Director of Asian Affairs for NYC. This development follows Mayor Adams' recent criticism of the Biden administration regarding the immigration crisis in the city and his call for a reconsideration of New York's sanctuary cities law.

As reported by the New York Daily News, a law enforcement official verified the FBI's search at Greco's home.

Notably, Greco was previously under scrutiny by the Department of Investigation due to a referral from the mayor's office last year.

Mayor Adams' push for reforms in state and local immigration policies coincides with these events.

During a town hall meeting on Monday addressing the immigration challenges in NYC, Mayor Adams emphasized the need for additional resources to provide employment opportunities for undocumented immigrants while expressing concerns about individuals within this group engaging in criminal activities.

In his statement, Mayor Adams highlighted the necessity to amend the sanctuary city law to allow for the deportation of individuals involved in felonies or violent acts by cooperating with Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

In response to inquiries regarding the investigation involving Greco, a spokesperson from Mayor Adams' office emphasized the expectation for all employees to uphold the highest ethical standards. The spokesperson reiterated the office's policy of refraining from commenting on ongoing reviews but assured full cooperation with any investigations.

Furthermore, the office clarified that Mayor Adams has not faced any allegations of misconduct.
