In a recent report by Border Report, a group of military veterans from California, known as Border Vets, has taken the initiative to address the border crisis by sealing off gaps in the southern border wall.
These gaps have become notorious for illegal migrant crossings. The group's primary focus has been on patching up the areas near Jacumba Hot Springs, a location nestled in the mountains approximately 60 miles east of San Diego.
Kate Monroe, a retired Marine and member of Border Vets, expressed the group's commitment to national security in an interview with Border Report. She stated, Its really serious for everybody here that we protect our nation. The holes that we can find [in the border wall], were going to go ahead and get the razor wire and do our best to defend our country. She further emphasized the need for citizens to take action, saying, Whoever it is youre waiting to do this for you, theyre not coming. Its going to be people like us, people like Americas veterans.
Monroe revealed that the group has been consistently involved in such activities at the southern border. Despite warnings from the Border Patrol that only agents and government contractors are legally permitted to alter or repair the border wall, Border Vets plans to continue their work. Monroe noted that the group has received predominantly positive feedback from Border Patrol agents and has not been prevented from installing the razor wire.
She acknowledged the likelihood of smugglers dismantling their work but remained undeterred. Thats not going to stop us or deter us from coming here, she declared. If we can stop them for one day, one hour, one week, weve stopped more people from coming into our country.
Monroe recently shared a video on social media showing her closing a gap in the border wall with razor wire. She questioned the effectiveness of the wall if people can easily bypass it, stating, What good is a wall if you can walk right around the corner of the wall?
She also highlighted the issue of illegal migrants, many from Central Asia, Africa, China, and South America, who cross into the U.S. near Jacumba Hot Springs. These migrants often wait in an unofficial camp to be picked up by Border Patrol agents, who then transport them to a processing facility, as reported by the New York Post.
In related news, a migrant center in San Diego was recently forced to close due to a lack of funds, as reported by Fox News Digital. This resulted in the release of 1,300 illegal immigrants onto the city streets following the shelter's closure.
San Diego County supervisor, Jim Desmond, blamed the federal government and the state of California for the situation. He stated, This is entirely the fault of the federal government for its open-border policies and the state of California for incentivizing people from around the world to come here.
He expressed concern about the lack of vetting for many of these migrants, particularly those entering through the Jacumba area, and noted that the majority of the illegal migrants being released into the U.S. are single adult males.
