An explosive incident took place on Saturday outside the office of Republican Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall, as reported by AL.com.
Fortunately, there were no injuries or property damage, but authorities have initiated an investigation.
The detonation transpired early Saturday morning in the vicinity of Washington Avenue and South Bainbridge Street. Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Sgt. Jeremy Burkett disclosed that the State Bureau of Investigation was notified about the explosion around 8:19 am on Monday.
Responding to the scene were troopers from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency's Protective Services Division, along with special agents from the Hazardous Device Unit, ATF agents, and Montgomery police. They confirmed that the suspicious package was indeed an explosive device that had been detonated over the weekend.
Attorney General Marshall addressed the incident, stating, "In the early hours of Saturday, February 24, an explosive device was detonated outside of the Alabama Attorney Generals Office building in Montgomery. Thankfully, no staff or personnel were injured by the explosion." He further added, "The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency will be leading the investigation, and we are urging anyone with information to contact them immediately."
