The homicide unit of Prince George's County has apprehended Nelson Granados-Trejo, a 25-year-old male, in relation to the tragic killing of a toddler in the same county, located in Maryland.

The police report indicated that Granados-Trejo had "no fixed address," yet it did not elaborate on his immigration status.

The horrifying incident took place on February 8th, when two-year-old Jeremy Poou-Caceres was fatally shot on the 1400 block of Kanawha Street in Langley Park. The shooting occurred amidst a confrontation between two groups.

Following a thorough investigation, the police of PG County took four suspects into custody in relation to the shoot-out. On Monday, Granados-Trejo was apprehended and charged with first and second-degree murder.

The Prince George's County Council, in 2019, unanimously decided to "bar all county agencies from engaging in immigration enforcement," as per the official records.

According to the PG County Police Department, "The Prince Georges County Police Departments Homicide Unit identified and arrested a fifth suspect in connection with the murder of a toddler in Langley Park. The arrested suspect is 25-year-old Nilson Granados-Trejo of no fixed address."

On the fateful day of February 8, 2024, a detective who was on duty in the vicinity of the 1400 block of Kanawha Street heard gunshots and endeavored to locate the crime scene. The detective found two-year-old Jeremy Poou-Caceres suffering from a gunshot wound. The child was later pronounced dead at a hospital. The toddler's mother was also a victim of the shooting, but her injuries are not life-threatening.

Since the murder, the PGPD has identified and arrested four other suspects, including a 15-year-old male from Takoma Park and a 16-year-old male from Hyattsville. Both are being charged as adults. The Homicide Unit has also apprehended 33-year-old Israel Fuentes, Jr., of Lewisdale, and 28-year-old Johnny Alejandro Turcios of Lewisdale. The preliminary investigation revealed that two groups of males exchanged gunfire near where the victim and his mother were walking. The two victims were not the intended targets.

Granados-Trejo is now facing charges of first and second-degree murder. He is currently in the custody of the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.
