In a shocking incident that unfolded in the heart of Washington, D.
C., an active-duty member of the U.S. Air Force set himself ablaze outside the Israeli Embassy, as reported by The Gateway Pundit.
The man, later identified as Aaron Bushnell, was said to be in critical condition following the act of self-immolation.
The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) was called to the scene on the 3500 block of International Drive, NW, to assist the United States Secret Service around 1:00 p.m. local time. The MPD released a statement saying, An individual set themselves on fire in front of an embassy in the block.
Bushnell was promptly transported to a local hospital by DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services. The MPD further stated, MPDs Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) has also been requested to scene in reference to a suspicious vehicle that may be connected to the individual. This remains an active investigation at this time. Subsequent updates confirmed that the vehicle was inspected and cleared of any hazardous materials.
In an alarming twist, the act of self-immolation was broadcast live on Twitch, as revealed by citizen reporter Talia Jane. Jane managed to secure a copy of the video, which was later posted online with the consent of Bushnell's family.
In the video, Bushnell, clad in his military uniform, declared, I am an active duty member of the United States Air Force, and I will no longer be complicit in genocide. Im about to engage in an extreme act of protest. But, compared to what people have been experiencing in Palestine at the hands of their colonizers, its not extreme at all. This is what our ruling class has decided will be normal. Following his statement, he set himself on fire while shouting Free Palestine.
As the flames engulfed Bushnell, one officer called for assistance while another, with his weapon drawn, ordered Bushnell to the ground. It took three fire extinguishers and the arrival of EMTs to extinguish the flames. Despite their best efforts, Bushnell later succumbed to his injuries, as reported by Jane, marking a tragic conclusion to his protest.
