A tragic helicopter crash occurred near the California-Nevada border late Friday night, just days after another fatal incident claimed the lives of five Marines in the Golden State.
The Eurocopter EC 130, carrying six people, went down near Nipton, on the outskirts of the Mojave Desert Preserve, east of the 15 Freeway, at approximately 10 p.m. local time, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
The FAA, in conjunction with the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), will conduct an investigation into the crash. Unfortunately, no survivors have been found, as confirmed by the San Bernardino County Sheriffs Department.
The helicopter involved in the crash is registered to Orbic Air, a tour company based in the Burbank area, as reported by NBC. However, Orbic Air could not be reached for immediate comment regarding the incident.
This latest tragedy marks the second fatal helicopter crash in California within a week. On Tuesday, five Marines lost their lives when their aircraft went down while returning from a training exercise. The consecutive incidents have raised concerns about helicopter safety and prompted further scrutiny into the causes of these accidents.
As investigations into both crashes continue, authorities and aviation experts will be working diligently to determine the factors that led to these devastating incidents. The families of the victims, as well as the wider community, are left mourning the loss of their loved ones and seeking answers in the wake of these heartbreaking events.
