Project Veritas and James OKeefe are in the news again, according to a report by RedState.
OKeefe is the founder of Project Veritas, and he and the board of directors have been at odds, and not in a good way. Earlier in February, the board suspended OKeefe as CEO. OKeefe finally decided to step down from the position after some drama behind the scenes came to light.
OKeefe didnt go quietly. The former CEO stood his ground before the organization and read his resignation letter for all to hear. Social media lit up as the video went into viral mode. During the reading, OKeefe said, Our mission continues on. Im not done. The mission will perhaps take a new name.
OKeefe aired his opinion by intimating a plot thickened behind the scenes by board members to get him shown to the door by going to employees and asking for negative information. The plan was to use the negative feedback against OKeefe. On the flip side, OKeefe shared a text message between a board member and a journalist where money was offered as a raise if OKeefe was removed.
The company has not taken OKeefes sharing of info lightly. On the Project Veritas website, the board claims theyve made numerous attempts in the last 14 days to have a conversation with the former CEO. However, he ignored our outreach and decided instead to leak private information to others. In response, the company has accused OKeefe of being creative with donor funds and not being available to work with board members to find a solution.
According to the RedState report, the company wants to discuss its long-term sustainability based on staff retention and morale and the companys financial health.
Adding to the already heated atmosphere, the Veritas organization dropped the heavy-duty accusation that OKeefe had helped himself to donor funds for his personal use. The organization outlined the amounts OKeefe is accused of spending and where the money was spent.
Expenditures included $14,000 on a charter flight to meet someone to fix his boat under the guise of meeting with a donor, $60,000 on events, and $150,000 on Black Cars, plus hundreds of additional spending sprees of donor funds on personal use.
Another side-effect of the OKeefe-Board Members turmoil is the major hit Project Veritas has taken on its social media platform.
