The families of three Kansas City Chiefs fans who were found dead outside a friend's home are demanding a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding their deaths.
David Harrington, Ricky Johnson, and Clayton McGeeney had gathered at a friend's house in Kansas City to watch the game between the Chiefs and the Los Angeles Chargers. However, their bodies were discovered in the backyard two days later on January 9.
The fianc of one of the victims became concerned when she couldn't reach him and decided to break into the friend's home. She found one body on the back porch, while the police later discovered the bodies of the other two in the backyard. The homeowner claimed that the three men had frozen to death, but their families are skeptical.
Jennifer Marquez, Harrington's mother, expressed her anger and disbelief, stating, "Nobody believes this story. None of his friends, none of the families, none of us believe it." Norma Chester, Johnson's mother, criticized the police for their lack of action and called for an investigation into the homeowner. She said, "It's very hard holding up. Something is not right."
Chester even suggested that her son and the other two men may have been poisoned, although toxicology reports have not yet been completed. Jonathan Price, Johnson's brother, supported this theory, stating, "My brother was a smart man, and theres no way that he would just freeze to death. Freezing to death is not a cause of death that I would accept."
The families are also puzzled by the relationship between the victims and the homeowner. Price admitted, "We dont know how they became associated together." They believe that there are many inconsistencies in the case that need to be addressed and that the homeowner should be investigated.
The homeowner's lawyer, John Picerno, claimed that his client had no knowledge of the victims being outside. He stated, "He doesnt use that particular door. He goes out in the front. And so, he had no knowledge that they were out there until...Tuesday." Picerno emphasized that his client had nothing to do with their deaths and would never harm his friends.
The Kansas City police are currently awaiting the medical examiner's ruling on the cause of death before proceeding with the investigation. The families of the victims are determined to find answers and seek justice for their loved ones.
