Dems Go Into Crisis Mode After McCarthy Gives Tucker Carlson THIS Gift...

Democrat lawmakers are going bonkers after Speaker of the House, Kevin McCarthy, provided 41,000 hours of January 6 footage to Fox News host Tucker Carlson.

Up to this point, the public was only fed snippets of the footage by Congress, which the January 6 committee curated. The committee of two Republicans and seven Democrats, along with Congress, had control over what and how much would be released for public viewing. They fell out of public favor amid accusations that they edited the footage in such a way as to deceive the public. Carlson has accused the committee of lying.

The Blaze reported that Carlson told Axios, There was never any legitimate reason for this footage to remain secret. If there was ever a question that its in the publics interest to know, its what actually happened on January 6. By definition, this video will reveal it.

As confident as Republicans and Carlson are that the public reveal is necessary, the Democrats are equally certain that the transparency wont be beneficial. An MSNBC article by Steve Benen, producer for The Rachel Maddow Show, expressed concern that McCarthy has committed a colossal misstep.

He claims the Fox News host is not credible and that to give such a media personality exclusive access, presumably to allow him to create a counter-narrative that will challenge the reality of the insurrectionist violence, is ridiculous. If the statement sounds like jealousy rearing its ugly head, maybe it is.

Benen raises the possibility that McCarthy did not think through his decision to release the tapes to Carlson or that, maybe, the Speaker of the House did impose safeguards for their release.

Democrat lawmakers feel the tapes should have been released to all media, not just the Fox News host. According to Newsweek, they are especially agitated that the footage has not been curated and would fuel conspiracy theories ahead of the 2024 election.

The Blaze reported that Carlson said on his show some of the footage he has taken a look at in some ways contradicts the information shared by the January 6 committee. He plans to release the footage on air in the coming weeks.
