Newly released court documents have shed light on a scandal involving former South Carolina governor Nikki Haley, revealing that she did indeed engage in extramarital affairs prior to assuming office.
The documents indicate that one of her lovers was a married South Carolina lobbyist.
Despite vehemently denying allegations of infidelity when they first surfaced in 2010, Haley's past indiscretions have now come to light. She has been married to her husband, Michael, for 28 years and they share two children.
According to the Daily Mail, both the aforementioned lobbyist, Larry Marchant Jr, and Haley's former communications consultant, Will Folks, have admitted in signed affidavits that they had separate affairs with Haley before she became governor.
In his affidavit, Marchant revealed that he and Haley had engaged in sexual intercourse during a conference in Salt Lake City in June 2008. He explained that he decided to come forward publicly after Haley claimed to have been completely faithful to her husband in response to Folks' allegations. Marchant expressed the personal and professional difficulties he faced as a result of this situation, which brought unwanted attention to his family and clients.
Folks, in his affidavit, admitted to kissing Haley in her vehicle in early 2007 and stated that they continued to see each other until June of that year, when he met the woman he would eventually marry.
