In a recent column, Cindy Adams of the New York Post cautioned that Michelle Obama's potential entry into the 2024 presidential race should not come as a surprise.
"Plans are to grab Michelle for the Democratic presidency choice. Making the music is Barack the orchestra leader," Adams penned, suggesting that the Obamas are pushing for President Biden to step aside.
Adams further noted that the current president's reluctance to engage in debates has amplified the Obama drumbeat. "A Joe flop-out offers probability Michelle could wiggle in. Obamas negotiating to make that happen," she elaborated.
Adams' assertions were bolstered by Michelle Obama's recent media appearance. On Jay Shettys "On Purpose" podcast, the former first lady confessed her fears about a potential Donald Trump victory in 2024. "Those are the things that keep me up, because you dont have control over them. And you wonder, where are we in this? Where are our hearts? Whats gonna happen in this next election?" she questioned, emphasizing the importance of leadership in shaping the nation's future.
Former President Obama has also expressed apprehension about Biden's polling figures. The Wall Street Journal reported in December that Obama is among those on the left who dread Trump's possible return to the presidency. The report quoted a source familiar with Obama's thoughts, stating that the former president "knows this is going to be a close race" and "feels that Democrats very well could lose."
Obama is also reportedly concerned about the potential threat to democracy if the Republican alternative to Biden were to win. Furthermore, The Washington Post recently reported that Obama has voiced concerns about the structure of Biden's campaign.
He became "animated" during a discussion about the election with Biden, suggesting that the campaign needs to be empowered to make decisions independently of the White House.
