Eric Adams' Reelection Campaign Under FBI Scrutiny: Six-Figure Payments To Former Aide

The reelection campaign of New York City Mayor Eric Adams has been revealed to have paid a substantial sum to a former campaign worker, who was later subjected to an FBI raid, according to recent campaign finance filings.

The filings indicate that Suggs Solutions LLC, a company owned and managed by Brianna Suggs, a former fundraiser for Adams' campaign, received $279,835 from the mayor's reelection campaign between March 2022 and November 2023. This information was confirmed by the New York City Campaign Finance Board. On November 2, 2023, the FBI conducted a raid on Suggs' Brooklyn residence. Subsequently, it was reported that federal authorities were investigating Adams' ties with the Turkish government.

Politico reported that federal agents seized electronic devices and an envelope labeled "Eric Adams" from Suggs' residence. The agents were reportedly searching for records related to an illicit donor scheme linked to the mayor, as well as evidence supporting allegations that the Turkish government collaborated with Adams to channel foreign donations into his campaign account, as reported by The New York Times.

However, neither Suggs nor Adams have been formally charged with any misconduct by federal authorities.

Records show that Suggs' company received approximately $64,000 from the Adams campaign for campaign work and consulting, a day before her home was raided. Although Adams initially supported Suggs after the raid, he later dismissed her from her primary fundraising role within the campaign, as reported by The New York Times.

A source close to the campaign informed The New York Times that Suggs would be reassigned within the campaign, but her current position remains unknown. According to campaign finance records, Suggs did not return the $64,000 she received from the campaign after her dismissal from her fundraising role.

Suggs, who was appointed as the top fundraiser for the Adams campaign at the age of 23, raised eyebrows. One Adams donor, speaking to Politico, commented on her youth and inexperience, stating, "What turned some heads is that she was running the whole operation of that campaign, the finance part of it, and she was so young and inexperienced."

The New York Times reported that Suggs had a close relationship with one of Adams' top aides, referring to her as a "goddaughter," before securing her position as the mayor's top fundraiser. Suggs had previously worked on Adams' initial mayoral campaign, earning approximately $50,000 both directly and through her LLC for services rendered between April and October 2021, according to campaign finance records.
