Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) initiated a campaign against Nikki Haley's presidential candidacy on Friday morning, dubbing it the "Never Nikki" campaign.
This move followed a post on his social media account the previous Thursday, hinting at an impending announcement regarding the 2024 election.
In a detailed thread on his social media account, Paul elucidated his reasons for the "Never Nikki" campaign. He stated, "As I look over the field, I dont think I yet have a first choice, but I do know one thing: count me in as #NeverNikki!" He further shared his experiences with other Republican primary candidates and the views of Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
While refraining from endorsing any candidate, Paul made it clear that he would not support Haley's bid for the presidency. "I'm not yet ready to make a decision, but I am ready to make a decision on someone who I cannot support," he declared. "So, I'm announcing this morning that I'm Never Nikki."
Paul urged voters who shared his sentiment against Haley to express their disapproval on the website "nevernikki.net". He listed Haley's attitude towards overseas interventions, her involvement in the military-industrial complex, and her suggestion that internet users should be registered as reasons for his campaign.
"Based on her record and campaign, I dont see how any thoughtful or informed libertarian or conservative should vote for @NikkiHaley. If you agree, let your voice be heard," Paul added.
In his announcement post, Paul further elaborated on Haley's involvement in the military-industrial complex. He accused her of having a "thirst for war" and proposing the creation of a "Department of Offense" instead of utilizing the existing Department of Defense.
"She even personally received millions of dollars from the arms merchants who benefit from the war, a conflict of interest that undergirds her eagerness for foreign military intervention," Paul continued. He criticized Haley for aligning her foreign policy with John McCain and Lindsey Graham, while others were reevaluating past mistakes and advocating for an America First foreign policy.
Paul concluded his post by encouraging readers to visit "nevernikki.net", stating, "I am #NeverNikki and I hope you will be too."
