Well, There You Have It: Chris Christie Breaks...

Former New Jersey Governor and GOP candidate Chris Christie has announced his decision to drop out of the 2024 presidential race.

Speaking at a town hall event in New Hampshire on Wednesday, Christie acknowledged that there was no viable path for him to secure the nomination. He stated, "It is clear to me tonight that there isn't a path for me to win the nomination, which is why I'm suspending my campaign tonight for President of the United States."

In a bold move, Christie also pledged to prevent former President Donald Trump from returning to the White House. He emphasized, "I want to promise you this...I'm going to make sure that in no way do I enable Donald Trump to ever be President of the United States again. And that's more important than my own personal ambition."

Prior to the town hall event, Christie was inadvertently caught on a hot mic expressing his thoughts on fellow candidate Nikki Haley. He stated, "Nikki Haley is gonna get smoked," and added that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis had reached out to him, seemingly concerned about something. Unfortunately, the feed was abruptly cut, leaving the context of the conversation unclear.

A recent University of New Hampshire/CNN poll revealed that if Christie were to exit the race, 65 percent of his supporters would throw their support behind Nikki Haley. The poll also indicated that Trump currently leads among Republican primary voters in New Hampshire, with 39 percent of support, closely followed by Haley at 32 percent. Christie trailed behind in third place, garnering 12 percent of support. New Hampshire's primary election is scheduled for January 23.
