Hey Vlad, It's Me, Joe: Biden Calls Kremlin Ahead Of Ukraine Trip

Before Joe Biden's visit to Ukraine, the White House notified the Kremlin of his impending trip.

The Daily Mail reported that National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan disclosed that the Kremlin was informed beforehand of Joe Biden's upcoming trip to Kyiv for "deconfliction purposes."

"We did notify the Russians that President Biden would be traveling to Kyiv. We did so some hours before his departure for deconfliction purposes," he said.

No other information was provided by Sullivan about the conversation between the Biden administration and Russia. Bidens travel plans were not disclosed either. "We will share it, but we just want to make sure we do so once we feel that it's operationally safe to do so," Sullivan concluded.

He continued, "And because of the sensitive nature of those communications, I won't get into how they responded or what the precise nature of our message was, but I can confirm that we provided that notification.

At the break of dawn on Sunday, Joe Biden was said to have flown out of Washington, DC in secrecy, first to Poland, then taking a train for a full 10 hours to Ukraine.

The Daily Mail reported that a representative from the two-person press pool said Biden traveled to Poland on an Air Force C-32, smaller than the regular Boeing 747s used for international trips.

Rather than the call sign of "Air Force One", the plane flew with the call sign of "SAM060"(which stands for Special Air Mission).

During the journey, the aircraft landed in Germany to take on fuel, and then the pilots deactivated the transponder for the rest of the journey, which took around an hour.

It was anticipated that the journey would stay confidential until Biden's departure from Kyiv. However, plans had to be altered when people from the area began posting pictures on the internet of Biden and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

The White House, the Chief Of Staff's office, the National Security Council, the White House Military Office, the Pentagon, the Secret Service, and the intelligence community all took part in the arrangement of the meeting.

At a press conference, Jonathan Finer, Deputy National Security Advisor, declared that a very small number of people were engaged in the process of planning for operational security.
