A shocking incident unfolded at the San Juan de Dios hospital in San Miguel, El Salvador, when a woman disguised as a nurse was caught on camera allegedly snatching a newborn baby.

The harrowing surveillance footage captured the imposter nurse walking through the maternity unit, clutching the infant in her arms. Dressed in scrubs, she had reportedly informed the baby's mother that she was taking the child away for immunization.

However, once in the hallway, the alleged perpetrator was seen placing the swaddled baby into a backpack, slinging it over her shoulder, and calmly making her way towards the hospital exit.

Authorities launched a widespread search for the missing baby and, after approximately two hours, the child was found safe. The National Civil Police of El Salvador released a statement, saying, "He is being treated by specialist doctors to rule out any injuries."

In a surprising turn of events, a man and a woman posing as the baby's parents were arrested. However, the woman who had posed as the nurse remained at large, prompting authorities to intensify their efforts to locate her. The police stated, "We continue the search for the woman who pretended to be a nurse and for any other individuals who may be involved."

Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele expressed relief and gratitude for the baby's recovery and the subsequent arrests. Taking to social media, he posted, "The real human rights. Thank God." The incident has raised concerns about the security measures in place at the hospital and the safety of newborns.
