Following the recent release of unsealed documents in the Jeffrey Epstein case, which revealed the names of individuals connected to Epstein's longtime partner Ghislaine Maxwell, a media lawyer is now urging the court to unseal a master list of names and pseudonyms.
The lawyer, Christine Walz, representing Julie Brown and the Miami Herald Media Company, argues that releasing the complete list will prevent the spread of incorrect information and allow the public and press to better understand the court's reasoning.
In a filing to Judge Loretta Preska, Walz requests the unsealing of a document that would clarify the alignment of the assigned pseudonyms with the disclosed individuals, as well as provide insight into the court's decision to unseal each name. The release of these documents began on Wednesday evening with the publication of 40 previously redacted files, and it is expected to continue over the coming days.
Among the names revealed in the documents are former Presidents Bill Clinton and Donald Trump, various Hollywood stars, Epstein accusers, and others who have not been accused of any wrongdoing. The documents also resurface allegations against Britain's Prince Andrew, who has been accused of groping a woman and participating in activities involving underage girls. Prince Andrew has denied these allegations but has been relieved of his royal duties due to his association with Epstein. He previously settled a separate lawsuit brought against him by Virginia Giuffre in 2022.
One of the most attention-grabbing claims in the released documents comes from Epstein accuser Johanna Sjoberg, who worked as a masseuse for Epstein. In her deposition, Sjoberg describes instances when Epstein discussed his connections to wealthy and influential individuals.
Additionally, the documents reveal that Epstein had asked Maxwell to offer a "reward" to anyone who could discredit Giuffre's accusations of sex trafficking when she was a minor.
As the unsealing of these documents continues, the request to release the master list of names and pseudonyms aims to provide clarity and transparency in understanding the court's decisions and prevent the spread of misinformation.
