In a recent operation, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed the elimination of Adil Mismah, a Hamas commander from Deir al-Balah.
Mismah was instrumental in the October 7 terror attack that resulted in the death of approximately 1,200 individuals and the abduction of around 240 others. The IDF made this announcement on an unspecified Monday.
As reported by The Jerusalem Post, Mismah was responsible for leading terrorists into Kibbutz Kissufim and orchestrating attacks on the communities of Nirim and Beeri. The IDF stated that Mismah was killed in an airstrike coordinated by Israeli ground forces.
In addition to Mismah's elimination, the IDF also targeted Hamas and Islamic Jihad terror cells in Shejaiya. The operation resulted in the discovery of a significant weapons cache, the destruction of a launch post, and the neutralization of a terror cell that had previously attacked Israeli troops. The IDF also dismantled a rocket launcher in Khan Yunis, while the Israeli Navy targeted locations in Gaza.
Despite international pressure for a sustained ceasefire, Israel has indicated that its military operations in the disputed territory will continue for several months. The IDF remains active in Gaza, with a focus on eliminating key figures like Mismah, who played a significant role in the October 7 invasion and subsequent attacks on communities surrounding Gaza.
The Hamas-run Gaza Health Ministry reports that the conflict has resulted in over 21,800 deaths in Gaza. However, the Ministry does not distinguish between civilian and military casualties, stating that two-thirds of the victims are women and children. Conversely, Israel maintains that more than 8,000 of the deceased Palestinians were terrorists. Neither party has provided substantiating evidence for their respective death toll claims.
The United Nations reports that the ongoing humanitarian crisis has displaced the majority of Gaza's 2.3 million residents. Over half a million people are reportedly suffering from starvation due to the inadequate delivery of food supplies to the region.
