Russian political ally Vladimir Egorov was discovered dead on Wednesday after reportedly falling from a third-floor window, as reported by Russian state media.
Egorov, a member of President Vladimir Putin's United Russia party and a Tobolsk City Duma deputy, tragically plunged from a house window in Tobolsk, located in the Tyumen Oblast, according to the Russian Telegram channel Baza.
Authorities found the prominent politician in the front yard of the residence, with no apparent signs of foul play on his body, as stated in reports. It is believed that Egorov may have experienced heart problems prior to the incident, as suggested by an anonymous source. Heart-related issues have often been cited as the cause of untimely or suspicious deaths among influential figures in Russia, particularly since the onset of the conflict with Ukraine.
To determine the exact cause of Egorov's death, pathologists are awaiting the results of an official autopsy. Meanwhile, the police are conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his fall, as reported by Baza.
Egorov, a lawyer by profession, was previously forced out of the city administration in 2016 due to a corruption scandal, although he was not convicted. Upon his return to politics, he became one of the wealthiest local deputies in Tobolsk, a prominent oil town, with an income of approximately 9.1 million rubles (equivalent to about $100,500), according to Russian news outlet RBC.
The late politician leaves behind a wife and two children. It is worth noting that two other notable allies of President Putin, Ravil Maganov, a tycoon from Lukoil, and Marina Yankina, also tragically fell to their deaths during the conflict. Similar to Egorov, both individuals were said to have been suffering from heart problems.
