House Speaker Kevin McCarthy wasted no time introducing the southern border crisis to freshman Republican lawmakers on Thursday.
Representatives Lori Chavez-DeRemer of Oregan, Jen Kiggans of Virginia, Derrick Van Orden of Wisconsin, and Juan Ciscomani of Arizona accompanied him on an aerial tour over Tuscon, Arizona, after a briefing.
Known as the sector with the most illegal alien captures and marijuana seizures, the Tuscon Sector spans 262 miles.
Once the controversial Title 42 was expanded to bar migrants from Honduras, Nicaragua, Mexico, Haiti, El Salvador, Cuba, Venezuela, and Guatemala, border crossings dropped by 42%. According to HotAir.com, CBPs Troy Miller said, The January monthly operational update clearly illustrates that new border enforcement measures are working. This shows that the flood of migrants can be controlled.
The delegation of freshmen lawmakers was slammed by President Joe Biden, who has only visited the southern border once in his lifetime. Biden stated to White House spokesperson Ian Sams, stating, House Republicans should spend less time on partisan publicity stunts and more time working on solutions. Solutions are what President Biden is focused on, and his plan is working. House Republicans would be wise to join him to work together to strengthen our immigration system and fund border security.
This isnt the Biden administration's first claim that Republicans are pulling a stunt. Could he be worried theyll realize how massive his failure to secure the border is if they show up to see the situation themselves?
HotAir.com reported that McCarthy tweeted, Gaps in the wall. Abandoned tech. The Biden Administration stopped our border security progress in its tracks. Why is President Biden denying law enforcement and property owners the use of every possible tool at their disposal to secure the border and end the crisis?
McCarthy said hearings about the border crisis in the House of Representatives would be moved to the southern border.
