In a recent development, the Israeli military has confirmed the elimination of Subhi Ferwana, a financier for Hamas, who was reportedly instrumental in channeling "tens of millions of dollars to the Hamas terrorist organizations military wing."
The operation was executed by an Israeli Air Force fighter jet in Rafah, located in the Gaza Strip.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated that Ferwana, along with his brother, had been funneling substantial amounts of money to Hamas and its military wing in the Gaza Strip through their money exchange company, 'Hamsat.' "Ferwana transferred funds to Hamas military wing during the war and was aware that these funds would be vital for continuing the wings ability to fight," the IDF stated. The funds were reportedly used for various purposes, including the intensification of military forces, payment of salaries to terrorists during the war, and financing of Hamas' war activities.
The IDF further emphasized the role of financiers like Ferwana in Hamas' operations. "Hamas uses financiers in order to receive the funds that are transferred to the terrorist organization from Iran and various fundraising sources abroad," the IDF said. The absence of such financiers significantly diminishes the capabilities of the organization.
In a separate incident in Gaza on Tuesday, the IDF shared a video that purportedly shows its soldiers discovering an explosive device in a medical clinic in Shuja'iyya. "The Israeli Navy is continuing to strike terrorist targets throughout Gaza including compounds where terrorist operatives and vessels used by Hamas for its military activity were located," the IDF reported.
Further north along the border between Israel and Lebanon, the Israeli military reported a launch from Lebanon toward Metula. The projectile reportedly landed in an open area, as per the Israeli military.
