Republicans Vow To Pursue Meeting With Hunter Biden's Enigmatic 'Sugar Brother' Who Footed His Million-Dollar Tax Bill

The financial and personal connections between Hunter Biden, son of President Joe Biden, and prominent Hollywood attorney Kevin Morris continue to draw scrutiny from House Republicans.

Morris, who is alleged to have loaned millions to Hunter Biden to settle outstanding tax liabilities, is a significant Democratic supporter and donor.

Missouri Representative Jason Smith, a Republican, shared his concerns with Fox News' Maria Bartiromo, stating, "From what the IRS whistleblowers have highlighted, they [Biden and Morris] just got to know each other about two months before he paid roughly $2 million into Hunter Biden's tax returns."

Smith further questioned the motives behind Morris's financial support, asking, "Why would Kevin Morris pay almost $5 million for tax filings and also to subsidize Hunter Biden's lifestyle? What is Kevin Morris getting from Hunter Biden or from Joe Biden? These are things that we need to look into."

An email dated February 7, 2020, from Morris to accountants working with Hunter Biden, warned of significant personal and political risks if the tax returns were not filed promptly. Smith interpreted this as a potential threat to Joe Biden's political career, stating, "The only political risk is Joe Biden. And that's exactly why the IRS whistleblowers wanted to look into campaign finance crimes in Joe Biden's campaign, but the Justice Department has refused to do that."

The funds Morris provided to Hunter Biden are partly the focus of a prolonged Justice Department investigation into potential tax evasion and other possible crimes. Reports suggest that Morris also financed Hunter Biden's lifestyle, including private jet travel and living expenses.

Smith emphasized the need to question Morris, often referred to as Biden's "sugar brother," to clarify the situation. However, he acknowledged the difficulties in securing his appearance. "He's an individual that came up repeatedly among the IRS whistleblowers that came before our committee of an individual that we need to bring forward and ask questions to," Smith explained.

Bartiromo expressed astonishment at Hunter Biden's audacity in defying a congressional subpoena and conducting a press conference on the Capitol steps. Smith responded, "If you or I or any other American did that, we would be prosecuted. It's clearly a two-tiered justice system."

Smith further criticized Hunter Biden's actions as contributing to a "severe constitutional crisis," given his status as the president's son. He confirmed that House Republicans "absolutely" plan to follow up with Morris's attorneys to arrange questioning.

Smith also expressed skepticism about President Biden's claims of ignorance regarding his son's business dealings. "You have Joe Biden saying that he knew nothing about his son's business dealings. We released the IRS whistleblower testimony and then the next day, they started to say that he was not involved in his son's business dealings. However, just this week, Hunter Biden's in his press conference, says that Joe Biden was not financially involved. Let me tell you, the emails and documentation we've been getting from the IRS whistleblowers prove otherwise."
