Boston's Mayor Michelle Wu, a known figure of the far-left, has recently been under fire for hosting a holiday party exclusively for "Electeds of color," as reported by The Gateway Pundit.
The invitation to this event was revealed in an email sent out by one of Wu's staff members.
The controversy escalated when an official from Wu's administration claimed that the email was 'mistakenly' sent to all Boston city councilors, leading to a backlash. However, instead of expressing regret, Wu defended the event and even shared a photo of the gathering on social media.
The picture, posted on Instagram, showed a group of government officials of minority backgrounds, all smiles at the event. Wu captioned the photo, Last night was my turn to host the annual holiday dinner for Bostons elected officials of colora special moment to appreciate that our affinity group now includes leadership across city, state, county, and federal offices.
She continued, Not too long ago in Boston, we didnt need such a big table to fit electeds of color. But over my time as a City Councilor and now Mayor, following so many leaders who have paved the way, Ive proudly watched this group grow and create space for mentorship and fellowship among many who are breaking down barriers while holding the weight of being the first or only. Throughout the year, we work to represent our communities with urgency and determination. And at the holidays, we take the time to celebrate and enjoy each others company!
Wu's actions have led to accusations of a pattern of discrimination against white people. At a 2022 event, she was quoted saying, This past winter was pretty intense, trial by snow, trial by firefighters union. Im getting used to dealing with problems that are expensive, disruptive, and white Im talking about snowflakes, snowstorms, snowflakes!
In February, Wu announced the establishment of a 'Reparations Task Force' to investigate the issue of reparations for black residents, a move seen by some as virtue signaling. Furthermore, in March, five restaurant owners in Boston claimed that they had been discriminated against by Wu due to their White, Italian heritage.
