A man from Dover, New Hampshire has been apprehended after sending a text message containing a death threat to Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy ahead of a campaign event in Portsmouth.
Tyler Anderson, 30, was charged with transmitting a threat to injure another person across state lines and was subsequently taken into custody.
The Department of Justice revealed that Anderson received a text message from Ramaswamy's campaign on December 8, notifying him of the upcoming event in Portsmouth. In response, Anderson's text read, "Great, another opportunity for me to blow his brains out!" He went on to state that he intended to "kill everyone who attends and then f*ck their corpses."
Anderson is expected to make an appearance in federal court on Monday afternoon. If convicted, he could face a maximum sentence of five years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $250,000.
Despite the alarming threat, Ramaswamy proceeded with his visit to the Roundabout Diner. During the event, he engaged with diners, emphasizing his belief that the nation's best days are still ahead.
