According to a report from Newsmax, Elon Musk will continue to be at the helm of Twitter through 2023.
Musk told the World Government Summit in Dubai via video on Wednesday that there is the possibility of a new CEO.
I need to stabilize the organization and make sure its in a healthy place and that the product roadmap is clearly laid out...I think it should be in a stable position around the end of this year. Musk said, Im guessing probably towards the end of this year should be good timing to find someone else to run the company.
The billionaire purchased Twitter for a healthy $44 billion, taking full ownership on October 27. Since then, the platform has faced multiple issues, including journalists suspended for criticizing Musk, the return of accounts previously banned, and Musk generating mass layoffs at the company.
On December 21, Musk first announced his intention to step down as CEO and that he would limit his duties to software and server engineering once someone foolish enough to take over the reins of the company took place. He has only provided a few clues to the type of leader he is looking for to take his place.
The public outpouring of hate-driven and racist tweets acquired a lot of attention from would-be advertisers, which is a primary source of revenue for the social media platform.
Musk said at the conference, It has been a rollercoaster.
More information from Newsmax reports that thousands of users attempting to access the Twitter platform reported ongoing problems last week alone. The issue stems from the newest change that allows paying users to exceed the standard in the length of posts allowed. The paying users posted tweets that were as long as 4,000 characters.
It was reported by U.S. tech media that Musk halted work on new platform features and instructed the staff to focus on troubleshooting.
Despite the issues the platform and users were experiencing, Musk encouraged communication to continue.
Musk said, As a forum for communication, its great. And I would just encourage more communication.... to sort of speak in an authentic voice. Sometimes, people will have someone else be their sort of Twitter manager or something like that. People should just do their own tweets....I think thats the way to do it.
